Monday's Skirt

Monday's Skrit is Skirt 4. I had a great weekend and am in the process of updating my blog. My trip was good, I was inspired to make some changes for the better.

Penney's Skirt in Phoenix

Phoenix is much bigger than I thought. The air is dry, the sun is high, creating a different kind of heat. I love the mountains and cacti, especially ths saguaros. Those guys are HUGE!
Yesterday we went to Tempe, Wickenburg, and a dude ranch. Today, I plan to check out some museums and Frank Lloyd Wright's Taliesin West. Phoenix is two hours behind Texas, so I'm up early and ready to go!

Pencil Skirt in Phoenix

My skirt and I are off to Phoenix today; my friend April is getting married. While the change of scenery will do me good, I can't help but feel guilty about traveling while I am unemployed... I need to relax and take this time as a gift, a chance to sort it all out. What's stopping me from living my dreams? The same thing that keeps me from enjoying myself: fear. Here's to taking the plunge and transition. Change is good.

Molly's Skirt

Molly has an interview today. Good luck girl!

Molly's Skirt at Natsumi. We wanted something fizzy, but the natural and organic gelato sufficed.Trifecta perfection with raspberry sorbet, grapefruit sorbet and white chocolate gelato. Mmmmmmmmm!
Get it while it's hot Dallas!

@ B. T. W. H. S. P. V. A.

B.T.W.H.S.P.A. also known as Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts is open again! After a year and a half at a temporary location, the doors are open once again on Flora Street. This isn't your ordinary high school, it's a beautiful state of the art, million dollar building.

Here are some pics from my tour yesterday.

The massive 4 story addition where the parking lot used to be

Inside the front intrance on Flora Street. Things still look the same.

The renovations in the front building, raised ceilings and no lockers. The renovations enhance the building, but it still has the same feeling.

A new classroom in the front building:

A drawing classroom in the new addition. Check out that natural light flooding the room,

and all of that storage space...

State of the arts classrooms with Apples for the teachers and students.

The dark room:

(hehehehehe)

Big, beautiful dance studios:

Overlooking the cafeteria:

This is where I used to eat lunch...

The new outdoor theater in the courtyard... Lunchtime performances still happen at BTWHSPVA.

Another view from the courtyard. The red building is the original high school and the gray building is the new addition. That's One Arts Plaza in the background...

Downtown Dallas as seen in front of the uncompleted theater at Arts...

Oh, how my city has changed, but still remains the same...

Some kids are receiving good news today... acceptance letters have been mailed. Congratulations!
Hope I hear some good news soon too...

Missing Mexico Skirt

I had a dream about Mexico last night. My friends from PVwere in it, which prompted me to wear the skirt that Penney gave me. It's a beautiful skirt from a little store, which is actually a woman's house, in Bucerias. I did the best I could to take a picture with it with my iPhone, but it's hard because there isn't a timer on it... oh well... what are you going to do? Mexico was such a great experience that I hold close to my heart. Thankfully I have some great skirts that bring it all back when I feel that I start to forget it. Thank you for my skirt Penney!

I had an interview yesterday. Check out my new skirt and shirt, a gift from my cousin. I even have a matching blazer! I wore the suit, pantyhose and pearls, not my everyday attire or anything that I'm used to. It was a great learning experience... I learned more about myself, namely what I want to do and what I don't want to do, and for that I am grateful.

Gas is expensive, it cost $50 to fill up! Sheesh!
I need a j- o - b in a major way...

At Target buying some sunnies and some pantyhose.

Please God, don't let me work at a place where I have to wear pantyhose, though I hear they're good for growing tomatoes.

So, this is my new interview outfit. I've worn it once already. I wonder how many times I will wear it before I land a job???

Between Posts...

What can I say? Life gets in the way sometimes, but not between me and my skirts.

Inspired by the book I am reading by Jhumpa Lahiri, I wore Skirt 22 because of the antique sari fabric and the colors match the cover.

Unaccustomed Earth is Lahiri's latest collection of short stories. Her writing is so beautiful; transporting you to far-away places and moving you to feel her characters' depth..

Reparing communication: I've updated and upgraded to Apple's iPhone.

Can you hear me now?
I love my new toy.

Knit skirts
This weekend I wanted to feel comfortable so I donned Skirt 40
and Skirt 4, and I had quite the weekend!
Friday I hit the sushi buffet at Sushi Sapporo on Oak Lawn, and it was yummy!

Friday night, Skirt 4 and I went to Woodrow Wilson High School to attend their production of The Sound of Music, and I was so impressed! It was such a professional production! It made me miss my little school in Vallarta...
Still in Skirt 4, Saturday was a night of openings, namely Central Trak, UT Dallas artists residency.

Inside "Lifebean" by Anderson Anderson.

And now for my favorite skirt this past weekend:
Molly's ballet skirt. Not a tutu, but not shorts either...

Hoo-ray for tights and leg warmers!

Skirt 25, 4 weeks later...

Can't help but wonder what it is that I want to do with my life? Besides what I'm doing everyday, I have to make a living. Thankfully there are people all around me to inspire and fuel my imagination.

"I want to blog for my career." A revelation at my local Starbucks...

Snider Plaza in Dallas.

Check out these teeny-tiny adorable skirts from the Gypsy Wagon! This has to be the cutest boutique in Dallas!

And right next door...
Sexy and modern at Again & Again.

Chairs!

My afternoon snack at Wild About Harry's; a Chicago Dog.

At the Apple store, making a contribution to the economy.

What did I buy?

Later that night, Feist at the Palladium Room. Such a mellow show, but I'm not complaining.
"Do you feel it Dallas?"

Skirt 25 today... I've been home now 4 weeks. It's all good, it's all good.

April 15, 2008

It's Tax Time!

So that calls for a green skirt... Or red???

I chose red...
Zip!

At Arts Magnet they are moving to the new school next week, and I'm helping some teachers pack up...

This is Laurianne's sculpture... it kind of looks like a skirt... kind of...

1 day left to get your taxes in!

Card catalogs and skirt

At the "office"...

I should carry a lint roller when I wear this skirt.

untitled

Still working on the bathroom and the garden today. It's a little chilly for a skirt, but who knows... maybe I'll don one later today.
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
I did end up donning the new hot pink skirt that I bought in Chicago that day and all weekend, but I didn't take any skirt shots in it. I've been a bit distracted, but I'm getting things in order... getting all of my skirts in a row, if you will. Here are some pink pics that inspired my decision that day:

My favorite T-shirt, and fluffy pancakes with strawberries...

Mmmmmmmmmmmmm...

A pink stove top espresso maker...

Houseplant with pink striped leaves; actually called Calathea majestica or 'Roseolineata'.

Mom's roses from the rosebush my brothers planted for her 35 years ago.

I ♥ pink!

Skirt 7 at 8:00

I've been painting and purging more stuff all day. Needless to say, I have not been wearing a skirt. But... I do plan to wear Skirt 7 @ 8:00.

April 9, 2008

hmmm

Today's skirt? I'm not sure about that...
I'm not sure about anything these days... To visit some of my old haunts today, I left the house in Skirt 42. (I just love the circular lace at the bottom, it's so dainty and feminine.)

@ Dallas Contemporary

@ Murray Street Coffee Shop

This is Madison's skirt made from vintage blue jeans. I love the ruffle at the bottom and also the aqua boots. I love the boots.

It's good to be home.

new skirt

Sometimes life requires a new skirt. Today's skirt is from Target by Isaac Mizrahi. I bought it to replace Skirt 33 from the original 60. That blue skirt that makes me feel like a huge blueberry. This skirt is made of the same fabric, but is a straight pencil silhouette. I like it...
