Moonstruck Skirt

It's a full moon tonight, and I have the perfect skirt to wear. Actually, any skirt will do, but I am attending a FREE screening of Moonstruck this evening at Victory Park. I absolutely adore that movie!

I am house sitting right now, so posting is a bit trickier, but I have so much to blog about. I guess we'll just have to learn to be patient right now.

Owwwwoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!
(That's my attempt at howling at the moon.)

Lucky the 13th!

Wheeeee! I'm so excited, it's Friday the 13th! Great things are happening all around me; my friend got into law school yesterday, and I just found out my friend is moving back here to a house with a pool! It's the little things that make me happy.

More to update later, including my GREEN pics from the past couple of days.

I should have worn this skirt tomorrow...

Oh well... I just realized that I wore Skirt 32 one year ago tomorrow. I was going to wear Skirt 14 for my "do over," but I opted for Skirt 32 beacuse I was up at the crack of dawn and too busy to turn on the iron. Working on a project here, an assignment if you will. Anyway, I love, Love, LOVE this skirt, and part of the reason is for this picture below.

I don't know why, this pic just appeals to me, but so does today's.

Could it be the skirt? I don't know, but this skirt makes me feel ultra feminine, and I love the way it flounces when I walk. It makes my steps seem lighter and confident all at the same time. Maybe it's the fabric or the cut. Whatever, this skirt always makes me feel great!

Hose or No Hose

Recently a friend of mine told me about an article in the Wall Street Journal and the great debate about panty hose. Then yesterday morning, as I was getting ready for one of my jobs, Good Morning America was also in my face about panty hose!

I've just recently started taking a ballet class again after 10 years, and found myself in the dance store purchasing tights and other proper ballet attire (a skirt, of course!). While trying my wares on, I thought to myself, "you know... these actually aren't that bad." I thought they really defined my legs and made me feel a little bit slimmer and taller. Wow! If tights can do that, maybe I should give panty hose another try, so that's what I'm doing today with Skirt 13.

What else am I going to do in the sweltering heat of Dallas, but give it a go-round and see for myself. I went for Sheer Energy off white today, cause if I'm gonna wear 'em, might as well wear 'em. None of that nude stuff for me. Nude is not a color,it's nude! Anyway, it's 3:30, I'm sitting in an air conditioned place and it's not that bad. I feel slightly little girlish... maybe that's why I like 'em?

Lucky 13???

This Friday is the first Friday the 13th of 2008. An auspicious day, I am really looking forward to it. I should save this skirt for that day, but I have another outfit planned. I don't want to jinx it, so you'll just have to wait and see what's going on and what I wear. :-) Anyway, I mentioned yesterday that I wanted a "do over," this is the first of three this week. Skirt 13 was last worn in Cow Town when I went to Art Space 111, The Modern, Railhead BBQ, and stumbled upon Dishes from the Past. I must confess that I didn't like my outfit that day, but here are some pics that I took.

At Dishes from the Past; a wonderland of many beautiful, breakable things! I've never really been that into china... I always figured it was better to make your own, besides I think I would prefer Japan anyway... har har har har har.

This is my mom's wedding china, she still has it...

And this is the Franciscan pattern that my mom is collecting these days. Brothers, I hope you are taking notes!

Here's another sign from Railhead BBQ. It's pretty good, but not the best. I love BBQ so much, I'm still in search of the best. What makes great BBQ? Tender meat, a great sauce that is both spicy and sweet and the sides! I ate BBQ with another connoisseur. We agreed that we've had better, but I thought the yams were amazing! Later today I'm going to look up some BBQ blogs, I know they are out there...

At The Modern. I was trying to imitate Stephan Balkenhol's 4 Figures.

None of these photos worked for me... I hate my outfit, makes me look way too frumpy. I think it's the shoes... I love 'em, but they don't really go with my skirt.

I'm hoping to get some better ones today. I don't have as much going on, but you never know where your skirt will take you!

Shorts, not skirt today...

But I'm here and have much to share... mostly what I've been up to, where I've been...
I've been thinking about doing things differently, especially with Skirt Project. There's lots that I want to do and not enough hours in the day, but I'm hoping to incorporate some changes as I go along. So stay tuned and see what happens!

I've worn Skirts 13, 14, and 15; I took some pictures, but I don't feel satisfied with them. It could be the skirts, but I think it's me...
Nonetheless, I think I'll try to wear them again later this week and go for gold. Yup, that's what I'll do... I'll have a "do over," because sometimes we need those in life.

So where have I been?

Fort Worth
Yee-haw y'all!

Can you see the sign below the lights? It says,"Life is too short to live in Dallas."
Sometimes I share these sentiments, but it's not that bad.

I went to see Taylor and her skirt at Art Space 111.

Here she is standing in front of a piece by Mary Benedicto.

Working in Dallas
Skirt 15: Doing what I do best, driving around.

Knitting at work. As they say, "Idle hands are the Devil's tools."
Knit, purl, knit, purl. I'm making a baby pillow.

Liz's Skirt: a very cute pieced eyelet number.

Yvette's skirt: gorgeous, bright, simple embroidery on a sheer gray chiffon.
So prettttyyyyyy!!!!!

I really miss the sun sets in Vallarta, but if I wake up early enough, which I occasionally do from time to time, I can enjoy some gorgeous sun rises at White Rock Lake.

And...
Connecticut
New Haven to be exact. I held some babies, painted a kitchen, held some hands and saw some very special friends.

Skirt 20 is now covered in Chili Pepper, Sweet Butter and Dill Pickle, all by Benjamin Moore.

Gettin Dirrrrrty at the New Haven Community Garrrrrden.

Everything was blooming in CT. The poppies were amazing and so tall! I think this was my first time to see them in person, and I couldn't get enough!

This is my current screen saver on my phone:

I love this funky picture, I don't know how my phone did it, I can't seem to repeat it, but I like it!

Ahhh, the Atlantic...

It was a wonderful trip, a much needed break from the nothingness that I feel that I do all day. It recharged my batteries and I feel that things are about to turn around.

Friday's Skirt

Friday's Skirt is super cute and a great idea. It's two large scarves that have been sewn together, there are two darts in the front and fits with a tiny draw string. The scarves are colorful and bright vintage numbers that remind me of the scarves I used to wear when I was undergoing chemotherapy. I didn't care for the wigs, and I couldn't afford them. Anyway, I thought the scarves were a much better option, cooler and more colorful, I could show off more of my personality. Now, I wish I'd kept them...

Side A
and a handbound book that I made the other day. :-)

Side B

Car Shot... it's been a long time.

At the Dallas Museum of Art library doing some research.

I also went to see the exhibition Making It New Again; The Art and Style of Sara & Gerald Murphy. I've waited two years to see this exhibit, but it was freezing in the galleries. I'm going to have to go back, but I need to wear tights when I do.

Skirt 17 is in progress right now...
I'm not ready to don it quite yet, but hopefully will be sporting it Monday.
Today's skirt is funky and never been worn on Skirt Project.
It's a cute little number from Buffalo Exchange that I bought in Portland last summer.

It's time to go meet my pops for lunch.

Skirt 16

I began and ended my day surrounded by books!
Well, sort of...

AM: At Paperbacks Plus:
Hmmmm... James Joyce. Portrait of an Artist, or Portrait of a Lady... I can't decide.

I haven't worn these shoes in ages! They made me feel fabulous and didn't hurt too bad... And, they helped me get LOTS of assistance at Home Depot. ;-)

After work and coats of paint, it was time to play again.
Hoo-ray! After being shut down for repairs to their fire damaged kitchen, Cosmic Cafe is open again, and the chai was awesome!
Sew sweet!

To my right is Jill, a fabulous gal and great wearer of skirts. Her textured hot pink number is from House of Dang. I have a hot pink skirt too, but I don't look nearly as good as Jill when I wear it.

PM: We ended the evening at The Library. Not so many books, but the company was nice!

I've been away - both mentally and physically, but I've still been wearing my skirts. I have quite a bit to update, which I'm hoping to get to later today. I'm up to date, well sort of...
Today I'm wearing Skirt 16. It's still one of many, I think 6 black skirts, that I have.

Things are good.
Life is good.
Skirt 16 is good,
but it still has way too many belt loops.
