Pink and Red Spirit Day Skirt

Yay! It's Spirit Day! Today we can wear pink and red, and I'm wearing the PERFECT skirt! I love pink because I look great in this color. So great, I'm wearing my shirt again this week, and I haven't washed it! Ha!

As I write this post, I can hear the 8:30 American Airlines flight direct to Dallas, getting ready to take off. It's hard to believe that I may be on that flight 5 weeks from now, ready to go home for good.

The Love List

Paper flowers with Pre-First...
"For your mom?"

I ♥ my skirt today, Skirt 63,
I ♥ my Chaco's, they are so comfortable,
I ♥ that the three year olds shouted my name when they saw me this morning,
I ♥ that I was only 15 minutes late to school this morning,
I ♥ that there is free coffee at school for teachers,
I ♥ that we are decorating for Valentine's Day today!
Now, I have to work on the things that I ♥ about myself...

That "Dam" Skirt

Colour my world with new experiences at the Home Depot in Puerto Vallarta. Some experiences make you feel like you're home...

Before Skirt Project, Skirt 26 was just another skirt that sat in my closet. Now, Skirt 26 is a special skirt because of the memories that are tied to it. I wore this skirt to Lake Ray Roberts on a very special date last summer. But, I have to let all of that go... I am learning to let all of that go.

I chose to wear Skirt 26 today because it is pink and light and comfortable. I should wear it more often. I never really used to wear pinks and reds as much as I do now. I am enjoying all of this color in my life; it makes these hard times so much easier. I have to keep my chin up and focus on the positive. I have to be thankful for what I have and love myself for who I am.

I look good in pink, therefore I look good in love. I am thankful for the experiences and memories, but they are in the past. When it gets to be too much, I have to remind myself to let it go. There's still time for new experiences. After all, spring is nearly here and I know it's going to be a wonderful spring.

100 Days of School Skirt!

Hoo-ray! It's been 100 days since we've started school!

I'm wearing Skirt 6. It seems like it could have 100 flowers on it...
For this morning's shot, I took the opportunity to pose infront of the Tree of Love by the Pre-School area.
(We made these wind socks in Art last Wednesday. Aren't they precious?)

Beautiful!

Somewhere over the Rainbow Skirt

The last time I wore Skirt 46 was in July of 2007. I was driving back to Dallas from Denton and I saw a rainbow. Skirt 46 is a very old skirt, I'm not sure how old, but I was married when I bought it and that was over ten years ago. I didn't mention that I was married in the post on July 2nd, but I was. I was a child bride, married at 18. I mentioned that I kept this skirt because it reminds me how much I have grown, but today I am reminded that I am still growing; working towards becoming the person I've always known I can be ~ believing in myself.

Whenever I see a rainbow, I feel like I am witnessing a miracle. I also think of Skittles, but that's just advertising... I don't think that I will see a rainbow in Puerto Vallarta today, but I have seen one or two since I've been here. It's just nice to know that a simple skirt, that I really happen to like, can hold fond memories and remind me to hope and dream...

Not a rainbow, but beautiful cotton candy clouds...

I've been doing some thinking, and I realize that I was NOT a child bride. I was a young woman, unsure of myself and looking to be rescued from a world that I had no idea how to make sense of.

The world still doesn't make sense. But this world is mine, perfect as my own. It is what it is.

Steph's Skirt

This is Steph's skirt, and today is her birthday. Happy Birthday Steph!
I hope you don't mind but I added my own decoration at the bottom. You can barely see it, but I spilled coffee earlier on my skirt. I just found out yesterday that there is FREE coffee for teachers if they bring their own cup.

Sew... What I love about this skirt...
1) It's pink
2) It's a vintage pillowcase
3) It has a butterfly on it
4) Steph sewed it years ago.. (DIY)
We've been friends for a long time and that means so much to me.
H a p p y B i r t h d a y S t e p h !

Sew Inspired Skirt!

I'm back in Puerto Vallarta for 6 weeks. I was able to bring my sewing machine and 50 lbs. of fabric. That's about 100 kilos. Anyway, a dream is about to be realized this month and I am SEW excited!
I've fixed the flyers and here is the image.

I only post it again, because my colleague and fellow cancer survivor Lisa, came up to me today to show me the skirt that she sewed this weekend! Isn't it beautiful? I think so... just like Lisa.
Don't you think they look alike?

Meet Heart Man!

Kinder's Valentine's creations... He's perfect!

The yoga for kid's class invited me to meditate on their earth inspired mandalas.

Then they gave me a flower.

I love love, or should I say I ♥ love.

check-up day

I'm in Dallas for a quick trip. Actually, I had a doctor's appointment. No skirt today, but I feel compelled to write.

Six years ago to the day, I had my right ovary removed. Three weeks later I started chemotherapy. So here we are, exactly six years later...
I'm healthy, happy, uncertain about a lot of things, but I'm taking chances; figuring some stuff out.

And as the great Pam says, "life is fragile, death is certain."

Life is never what you expect it to be... it's what you make it.
