365 Photos: Days 112 - 118

Day: 112: Monday, April 22
An American abroad. I took this photo just before I hopped on board a boat tour in Ghent.
Day 113: Tuesday, April 23
A gorgeous day in Ixelles, Brussels.
Day 114: Wednesday, April 24
We chased the sun to Knokke on the Belgian coast.
Day 115: Thursday, April 25
Enjoying an early evening drink with my love.
Day 116: Friday, April 26
Friday Field Trip to the Caves of Han-sur-Lesse.
Day 117: Saturday, April 27
Happy Birthday Jon!
His 'cake' is a mixture of rice tarts and mattentarts, a kind of sweet cheese puff pasty.
Day 118: Sunday, April 28
Continuing Jon's birthday celebration in Brugge.

365 Photos: Days 105 - 111

Day 105: Monday, April 15
I must have been cleaning this day. Here is my stash of washi tape that I have amassed during my time here.
Day 106: Tuesday, April 16
Breakfast: toast, bananas, peanut butter and hagelslag (chocolate sprinkles).
My bread board is from Dille & Kamille and makes me very happy.
Day 107: Wednesday, April 17
A sunny view of the Oude Markt in Leuven
Day 108: Thursday, April 18
View of Ladeuzeplein and beyond, from the top of the University Library.

On a hike in the Belgian High Fens.

365 Photos: Days 98-104

April 8 - 14
Day 98: Monday, April 8
Stadhuis (city hall) in Gouda, The Netherlands.
Day 99: Tuesday, April 9
Self-portraits at the Escher Museum in Den Haag (The Hague).
Day 100: Wednesday, April 10
Wow! What a boring photo! To be honest, this was the only photo that I took that day because I needed to go grocery shopping. Instead of writing a list, I usually just snap a photo of the list on our chalk-board sticker in our kitchen. You might think that's pretty 'green' of me, but really I'm just lazy.
Day 101: Thursday, April 11
Job application checklist for DISD. It was so tedious and time consuming, the only way to get through it was to make a game of it. Plus, it was fun to check the boxes as I completed them.
Day 102: Friday, April 12
Wooden clogs at SPIT (the local charity shop). I should of bought them, they were €2,50.
I went back last week hoping they were still there. Of course, they were gone.
Day 103: Saturday, April 13
I tried something new at the market this day: pineberries.
A hybrid strawberry with a pineapple flavor. They were sweet and delicious!
Day 104: Sunday, April 14
Delicious slices of a Brazo de Reina cake that my neighbor made.

365 Photos: Days 91-97

April 1 - 7
The days of the week are written in Dutch.
Day 91: maandag, April 1
After trips it's normal for me to only want to eat salads.
Day 92: dinsdag, April 2
A rare sunny, but very cold Spring day in Brussels.
It snowed the next day.
Day 93: woensdag, April 3
We took a trip to Rotterdam for the Easter holiday and also for Jon to do some "field work" for his thesis. We went to an exhibition at the Museum Boijmans called Hand Made. I loved this piece by Dutch artist Johanna Schweizer. She crochets with yarn, then coats it with epoxy resin so that it is rigid, all the while forming the piece using various materials such as clothes pins and plastic bags.
Day 94: donderdag, April 4
A large date or number stamp that I picked up in Rotterdam.
Later, I gave it to our nice waiter at De Machinist.
I went back and got another one for me the next day.
Day 95: vrijdag, April 5
The Maastunnel in Rotterdam.
It spans 1070 meters underground (2/3 of one mile), under the Maas River.
Day 96: zaterdag, April 6
Close-up of Kubuswoningen (Cube Houses) in Rotterdam.
We even got to go inside one of them.
Day 97: zondag, April 7
An introduction to Body Pump.
While it was fun and definitely a workout, I hope I never have to do that again.

Make 52: Week 10

Every Sunday for 52 weeks, I will share what I have made in a week.

During the past two months I have made many yummy dishes and finished a major project, which I will share that in a separate post later this week, but I am not going to play catch up like I am with 365 Photos. Next week, either June 9th or 10th, I'll pick up where I left off with Make 52, and post for week 11. It's still 52 projects/meals in 52 weeks, and like I said in yesterday's post, I am taking things at my own pace.

The last time I posted for Make 52 was for week 9. This is the post for week 10.

 10. A. Café Chiase Cross-Stitch
Do you think it's lovely or lonely?
The pattern is from this book

10. B. A small knitted orange

Here is a picture of my fruit bowl so far.
I want to knit more fruit, such as lemons, bananas, and strawberries. But I think I am going to need a bigger bowl. Perhaps I will make one?

365 Photos: Day 84 - 90

Every Sunday, I will post 7 photos for my 365 Photos project. All of my photos are taken with my iPhone.

I have not posted in well over ten weeks, which means I have some catching up to do. During these weeks I have traveled to new places, traveled to familiar places, started some projects, finished some projects, abandoned some projects but also kept up with some projects. Like my 365 Photo project. Believe it or not, I am still taking photos everyday. Between traveling and working with a super slow laptop due to a cluttered hard drive, posting to this blog just wasn't working for me. It took way too much time. One week became two. Two became three. I started to move programs and files to my external hard drive, but three became four, and all of a sudden it's June!  So, here I am.

I'm still here! Still taking photos. Still living life.

I have to play catch up, recording all of the fun experiences and images here on this blog.  I'll start where I left off. I'll catch up eventually - I'm just taking things at my own pace, something I feel like I am finally learning to do. Life is good, and getting better all the time.

Here are the images from March 25 - 31.
Day 84: March 25
Warm chocolade and chocolate cake from De Werf in Leuven.
Notice the chunks of chocolate next to the cup of milk.
The milk is hot, delicious and melts the chocolate in a wonderful and comforting way.
Day 85: March 26
Blue sky above a school yard mural in Brussels.
Day 86: March 27
My desk. Most of the time. My family used to call me "Huricane Lydia."
I probably had hopes of cleaning it that day.
Day 87: March 29
A rather boring photo - but I wanted to document my finished cross-stitch project,
which I will share later in another post.
Day 88: March 30
Dobrý den!
Czech artist David Černý's sculpture of St. Wenceslas hangs in front of Kavárna Lucerna in Prague.
Yes, I went to Prague!
Day 89: March 30
Close-up of the statue of Jan Nepomucký (John of Nepomuk) on the beautiful, but crowded Charles Bridge. It was Easter Weekend after all.
Day 90: March 31
Last day in Prague, Easter Sunday.

365 Photos: Day 77-83

Every Sunday, I will post 7 photos for my 365 Photos project. All of my photos are taken with my iPhone.
Day 77: March 18
Window shopping in Leuven. Skirt and top from Mexx.
Day 78: March 19
A Lasagneria in Brussels (Ukkle, really).
Day 79: March 20
My egg stands on the equinox!
Day 80: March 21
Catching up with my US television shows and cross-stitching.

Day 81: March 22
Inside Leuven City Hall. I went on a tour this day.
Day 82: March 23
I put on my Converse sneakers today for a change. I am bored with my winter boots.
Day 83: March 24
More snow  +  student antics = Spring fever

Make 52: Week 9

Every Sunday for 52 weeks, I will share what I have made in a week.

This week seems to be light on the projects because my week was consumed with a bigger cross-stitch project.

9. A. Café Chiase Cross-Stitch
It's a work in progress. I hope to have it finished next week.
This is one of the best dishes I have made in a long time. It would be excellent with fish.

A fun and easy Sunday morning treat.

365 Photos: Day 70-76

Every Monday Sunday I will post 7 photos for my 365 Photos project. All of my photos are taken with my iPhone, until I can save some money for a nice "real" camera. Let's see what this iPhone can do...
Day 70: March 11
Jon's workspace in the Tweebronnen (municipal library), in Leuven.
Day 71: March 12
Snow in Leuven! And one for the record books,
the weather caused 1,600 km of traffic in Belgium that morning.
Day 72: March 13
Some fun works in paper at Atelier Isabelle de Borchgrave in Brussels.
Day 73: March 14
This was the only picture I took this day - the weather was nice and some flower vendors were out along Brusselsestraat in Leuven..
Day 74: March 15
Walking back towards the In Flanders Fields Museum after the Last Post in Ypres.

Day 75: March 16
16th, 17th or 18th (?) century printing presses in the Plantin-Moretus Museum in Antwerp.
Day 76: March 17
An odd shot in Heverlee.
My rusty handlebars and I venture back home after a run in the park.
